Spring Break Edition: Preview

This past week was NYU's Spring Break.  Spring Break here coincides very closely to the Chinese National Holiday, Qing Ming Festival.  However, good news, traveling close to Qing Ming is nothing compared to the crowds during Spring Festival travel, which was to our benefit since this trip took until the last minute to plan; literally, up until the day before we left, some of us were still looking into plane tickets.

For this break, we decided we needed to utilize as much of our time as possible as well as experiencing travel by train, so we narrowed our twenty-or-so cities that we wanted to visit down to four major locations, Guilin/Yanshuo, Zhangjiajie, and Xi'an and figured everything out from there (Liuzhou and Chongqing were thrown into the mix since they were our stopover locations, but neither location was explored).

Four people, Tiana, Marissa, Phil and Sondre, in our travel group, only had class until 11am Thursday, so they were off once school was off.  They headed towards Guilin on hard sleeper trains for twenty or so hours, while the remainder of us three, Garrick, Jae, and I left by plane for Guilin the next morning.

Our Trip Summary (as mapped out below):

A/F: Shanghai
B: Yanshuo
C: Guilin
D: Zhangjiajie
E: Xi'an

Each location will be a separate post, so remember to keep checking back! :D
